6. Maureen Ramsay

Maureen Ramsay was inducted to the Glenrothes Cricket Club "Hall of Fame" posthumously in 2012.

Maureen was inducted into the "Hall of Fame" on the same night as her husband Bill and her 3 sisters; Grace, Lydia & Muriel plus brother Alistair were there to collect the award on her behalf.

Maureen has scored the most runs in the clubs history and isn’t even included in the club stats!

Bill Ramsay’s wife Maureen was well liked by all, both within the club and within the wider cricket community.

Maureen sadly passed away in November 2006, but she will never be forgotten.

Club scorer for many many years, her skill and aptitude for scoring was the envy of many, and her score books were always immaculate.

Her array of coloured pens, travel blanket and bottle of coke (liberally laced with Bacardi) followed wherever she went.

But of course, she would always have the wireless; to keep track of the St Johnstone results, whilst always mocking those who supported other teams – she had a special dislike for the blue half of Glasgow.

A cheeky sense of humour, but one never to be crossed; she certainly kept a few current players in line when they were younger.

From 2014 the award for club person of the year is known as the Ramsay Award (previously the Maureen Ramsay Award) in memory of Maureen and her husband Bill Ramsay who died in 2014.
