New GCC Coach Graeme Beghin offers an introduction to the Cape Town International Cricket Academy (CTICA).

This may something of interest to young cricketers throughout Scotland for Winter 2014/15 - what an amazing opportunity!

This exciting Academy is aimed primarily at players aged between 15 and 25, and will offer such participants an unequalled opportunity to develop their cricketing skills in one of the world’s most attractive cities. The intention is to bring together a talented group of young players from South Africa, Zimbabwe, United Kingdom, Scotland, Ireland, and the Netherlands.

The Academy is directed by former Western Province batsman Ryan Maron, who has extensive experience of coaching in both South Africa, Denmark and the Netherlands, where he has played for Amsterdam clubs VRA and ACC over the past five seasons. A Level 3 coach, he has also runs the Cricket School of Excellence (est. 1999) in Cape Town for the past fifteen years and is head coach at one of the most prestigious Universities in the world, being the University of Cape Town.

CTICA would be delighted to accommodate any representative Scotland cricket team/s, aspiring young cricketer/s from Scotland, high performance squads or tour groups.

Below you can find some PDF links showing Physiological and Psychology feedback from Academy scholar and English County Under 18 player, Joshua Hunter-Jordan who is currently attending the Academy from 15 September until 15 December 2013 an then again from 1 February until 31 March 2014 on the weekly programme covered in the attached CTICA brochure.

All technical sessions take place at the University of Cape Town indoor/outdoor/middle nets, physiological and vision sessions take place at the Sports Science of South Africa And nutrition and sports psychology sessions are at the offices or at the technical sessions.

The Academy experience will include:

* Technical batting, bowling, fielding sessions – grass nets and middle sessions
* 8 sessions with Sheryle Calder (best vision trainer in Africa) – Eye Gym
* Sports psychologist
* Physiological testing and bio trainer and gym membership at Sports Science Institute of S.A.
* Clothing
* Video analysis
* Sports nutrition
* Sightseeing
* Coaching township cricketers
