Former ODI Wicket Keeper Joins GCC

Alec Davies, who played ODI cricket as Scotland's wicket-keeper has joined Glenrothes CC ahead of the 2013 season.

Alec first appeared for Scotland against the MCC in 1993 before going on to establish himself as the countries number one wicket-keeper in the latter half of the 1995 season. He performed extermely well during the 1996 season taking 20 catches and 5 stumpings in 16 representative games, and had two match winning performances against Ireland in limited overs matches in 1995.

In total Alec won 67 caps for Scotland and played in the 1999 ICC World Cup and 1998 Commonwealth Games.

A stylish right handed batsman, he played county cricket with Surrey CCC before moving north of the border where he represented Grange CC for 12 years winning League Titles and 3 Scottish Cup finals. He then moved on to West Lothian CCC where he played for 3 years.

Alec retired in 2001 but currently working as a PE teacher in Fife and with Glenrothes CC as his local club, he bumped into Greig Hopcroft by chance at Starks Park watching Raith Rovers FC last year and has decided to dust off the pads and gloves for the 2013 season.

Upon joining the club Alec commented, "I am looking forward to playing for Glenrothes CC. Hopefully, I can offer something back to the game and help the club move forward in what are very exciting times."

We're all looking forward to seeing Alec play again and he will be a fantastic addition to the club.
