Glenrothes Cricket Club is delighted to announce that our 5th XI has been admitted to the SPCU Division 2 South.

As a result of continued growth within the number of playing members at club there was an obvious need to offer more weekend cricket to our members ahead of the new season.

Glenrothes CC therefore made a late application to join the Strathmore & Perthshire Cricket Union (SPCU) and we are delighted to have been accepted as an associate member with a place in Division 2 South. Matches are played every Sunday throughout the season and take place in a 40 over per side format.

GCC Fixture Secretary Kenny Crichton stated, “We would like to express our thanks to the SPCU committee and their member clubs for voting in favour of Glenrothes’ admission.”

As it happened there were only 9 teams in the division when the fixtures were released, so the Glenrothes XI will take the place of the “Bye” in the fixture list (click here) and take on teams from Alloa, Breadalbane, Callander, Falkland, Freuchie, Glendelvine, Perth Doocot, Rossie Priory and St Modans.

The fixtures will be added to the GCC website and club calendar this week and players from GCC 3rd XI and 4th XI are encouraged to set their availability for both the ESCA (Saturday) and SPCU (Sunday) fixtures in order that we can successfully formulate our new 5th XI team.

GCC will also continue to participate on Sunday’s in the 30 over per side Forth Cricket Union (FCU) where players from all GCC teams will have the opportunity to play both weekend days if they wish to do so.

It is hoped that our home SPCU matches will be played on the Gilvenbank grass wicket with FCU games taking place on the artificial pitch as they did last season.

The club is always on the lookout for new players of all ages and abilities, please click here for more information about joining Glenrothes CC.
