Following the demise of the FifeT20 league GCC have entered the ever popular LMS as they launch their Fife league.

Last Man Stands (LMS) is cricket’s equivalent of five-a-side football (although it is actually eight-a-side).

The matches are only two hours long and everything is done at breakneck speed. Innings are limited to 20 overs. Because there are only eight players on each team, it doesn’t really matter how good or bad you or your opposition are as everyone is sure to play a starring role.

To speed up proceedings, the fielding side bowls ten overs straight from one end before switching for the final ten.

If you’re really lucky you could even find yourself winning the game single-handedly, as the last man standing (hence the name) bats on by themselves when the 7th wicket falls. To truly win in style, sixes off the last ball of an innings count for double.

The format is basic and, as it turns out, hugely popular. LMS is played throughout the world but there are already Scottish leagues in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee, East Lothian, West Lothian and now Fife.

Interest was fairly low for the launch of the Fife league but it will proceed with Glenrothes, Broomhall and Kinross-shire, you can click here to see the match dates.

Our LMS team will be managed by Ross Mearns and the team will not be selected via Pitchero Availability as other GCC teams are. If you are keen to get involved please call Ross on 07834731798.
