Injuries take their toll on fast bowler who represented GCC 1st XI for many years.

A 1st XI regular up until 2011 Iain has in recent times helped our 2nd XI and last season our 3rd XI gain title wins and promotions within the lower leagues.

Announcing his decision to retire after a 35 year stint as a player Iain commented; "I've done a lot of thinking over the past few months and have decided that it's time for me to hang up my bowling spikes, put the bat away in the shed and retire from playing."

"This has not been an easy decision as cricket has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, however time has taken its toll and mounting injuries, coupled with wanting to spend more time with the family as they grow has made my decision a little bit easier."

"I have enjoyed my time playing with great bunch of guys and have some great memories and achieved some personal milestones with a club that I believe has a fantastic future ahead of it and I am proud to have been part of its success."

"I wish all at the club the best for the future and will probably be up to see how things progress over the coming seasons."

Club Chairman Alasdair Sim said; "Iain's contribution to our 1st XI in particular has been invaluable in helping the club get to where it is today. I for one remember well his maiden ton at Watsonians, what an innings that was, for someone who was prodominantly a bowler - a great day indeed!"

Everyone at GCC wishes Iain a happy retirement and still hope to see him at the club as a supporter for many years to come.
