Junior Cricket Season - 2015 Summary
With the Gladiators outdoor cricket season now complete here is a brief summary of some of the milestones achieved.
Glenrothes CC coaches completed the following during the course of the Spring/Summer season.
- 19 outdoor Gladiator sessions utilising a minimum of 3 coaches per session
- 5 matches against other local clubs at Under 11 & 13 age groups
- Participation in 4 Kwik Cricket tournaments
- Organisation of our own local schools Kwik Cricket festival and attended the finals day at Falkland CC
- Visited 8 different local Primary Schools within a 6 week period and without double counting estimate that we gave instruction to 135 different boys and 57 girls
- Sent 2 coaches to attend Auchmuty High School Fitness and Wellbeing Day where they instructed pupils throughout the day
- Conducted 4 sessions at a Glenrothes Schools Summer Camps, 1 hour each
- Coaches supported clubs out with the Glenrothes area by assisting at schools in Dunfermline and helping coaches at other Fife cricket clubs during their Summer camps.
- Formation of an Under 18 team to play hard ball matches against adult teams in Forth Cricket Union (FCU) matches
The club are also actively evaluating new and novel opportunities to engage with a wider youth audience that we feel are generally ignored by wider cricketing community.
Special thanks to Ben Wilkinson, Chris Greaves, Graham Dodds Snr, Scott Lucas, Leia Glading, Ian Green and Graham Dodds Jnr for all their help coaching the kids this season.
Chair Person Carol Morris plus all her committee offer a fantastic service to local children and the club cannot thank you enough.
