After taking over part way through last season from Chris Yarwood it has been confirmed all rounder will continue to lead SPCU team for 2015 season.

Glenrothes CC joined the Strathmore & Perthshire Cricket Union for the first time last season and the players really enjoyed visiting new grounds and playing opponents we had not come up against previously.

The 5th XI is very much used as a development team on Sunday's whereby players new to the game mix with talented youngsters and experienced campaigners.

The team finished i a very respectable 5th position in Division 2 South last time out and will be hoping to improve upon that in 2015.

Upon confirming his appointment Matthew stated; "I was delighted to be asked to continue as the 5th XI captain, especially as I'm still relatively new to the club. After a really promising introduction to the league last year, I'm hopeful we can push on and secure a top half finish, whilst continuing to do the most important thing, which is making sure everybody enjoys themselves".

Club Chairman Alasdair Sim added; "'Despite only being available on Sunday's, Matt has been a tremendous asset to the club in his first season, skippering the 5th XI into the club's first run in the Strathmore & Perth District Union. A development side primarily, Matt has great talent with both bat and ball and has been a real support to those new to the game. He was the obvious choice to continue in his role of the 5th XI side in 2015".

We hope to have the SPCU fixtures available for 2015 shortly.
