Glenrothes CC are delighted to announce today that Talha Muna has agreed to take on the role of 2nd XI Captain for the 2017 season.

Talha who's been pretty much an ever present in the 2nd XI rise up through the leagues is certainly relishing the opportunity; he commented, "It is a great privilege for me to be asked to become a captain at this club, I have loved being part of the success in recent years and have learned so much from some of the captains I played under previously; especially Chippy Dale who it was a fantastic honour to play under and alongside."

"The 2nd XI have lost a lot of players over the past couple of years with many retiring all at the same time; we are under no illusions that a tough season awaits."

"Fantastic and long serving players such as Chippy Dale, Darren Lewis, Darren Bremner, Cammy Ross and Willie Morrison have all hung up their spikes leaving huge holes in the team. I understand that this year we are unlikely to see much of Greig Hopcroft, Ally Sim, Guy Robinson, Chris Humphries, Richard Cox or Ross Mearns on the field and a few others have moved on or cannot play most weeks due to work or studies".

"Whilst all these factors are certainly blows to the 2nd XI it does give others the opportunity to step up and we'll be doing our utmost to try and win every match, hoping to build on the foundations laid by the hard work of so many".

The 2nd XI campaign gets underway with Talha captaining the team for an away match at Perth Doo'cot on Sunday 23rd April, their league campaign begins away to Boroughmuir CC in Edinburgh on Saturday 29th April.
