Ian Green has been appointed GCC 4th XI Captain with the new season only a matter of days away.

With the new season almost upon us Ian didn't have much time to consider taking on the role.
- Kenny Crichton, Club Chairman

Following the shock resignation of Graham Dodds Snr, the club are pleased to announce that Ian Green will take on the role of 4th XI Captain for the 2016 season.

Club Chairman Kenny Crichton commented; "Ian played a lot of his cricket last season between the 3rd XI and 4th XI so he's quite familiar with most of the players. Like Doddsy he is also heavily involved with the Gladiators, which was something we were keen to tie in with the 4th XI this year as a pathway for the juniors into senior cricket."

"With the new season almost upon us Ian didn't have much time to consider taking on the role and the club are very grateful to him for his quick decision and enthusiasm for the challenge".

Ian added; "I am very pleased to be given the opportunity of captaining the 4th XI for the 2016 season; although as wth everyone else at the club I was disappointed to hear that Dodds Snr's had stepped away from the game."

"I'm very much looking forward to taking up this opportunity, to both further my knowledge of cricket captaincy and also to support the many new players and younger players being introduced to competitive league cricket. I feel my role as a Gladiators Coach will help with the integration of younger players into the senior game."

"I will also be looking to take advice from those more experienced players around me who will be playing 4th XI cricket and I'm keen to make sure we all enjoy our Saturday afternoons as best we can. This level of cricket gives everyone an opportunity to enjoy the game on a social level but also as as development platform for new and younger players".

GCC 4th XI are urgently looking for new players who fancy playing cricket this Summer. A considerable number of retirements over the Winter have left numbers lower than we would like!
