Former Scotland Captain and record run scorer to make Forfarshire return this weekend.

It's been an honour and a privilege to have had Ryan playing here at Glenrothes for the past 3 years.

Ryan Watson is to return to Forfarshire CCC where it's likely he'll be turning out against Grange CC in the CSL Premier League on Saturday.

For the past 3 years Ryan has represented Glenrothes CC and all at the club wish him well on his return to his old stomping ground at Forthill.

Ryan commented; "I've really enjoyed my time at Glenrothes and cannot speak highly enough about the welcome I received from all at the club. It's been fantastic to have been part of one of Scottish crickets emerging clubs and to see their innovative approach to whole club development".

"We set out with a clear set of objectives; the most important of which were increasing the playing membership and number of teams, setting a benchmark for the juniors and completing the first phase of the ground move to Gilvenbank. These objectives and many others were achieved and I guess the only disappointment was missing out on promotion to the CSL Premier League last season, which looked on the cards after topping the table almost all year. I'm confident Robbie and the lads will put that right this season and given the results so far don't seem to be missing me all that much".

"I'd have been happy to carry on playing at Glenrothes but with family and work commitments I couldn't commit to playing with any real regularity and with an aspiring young 1st XI team at the club the time was right for change".

"Living near to Forthill it makes sense for me and my family to return to Forfarshire and whilst I'm not sure how often I'll be playing this season I'm looking forward to getting back involved and helping wherever I can".

Glenrothes Chairman Alasdair Sim added; "It's been an honour and a privilege to have had Ryan playing here at Glenrothes for the past 3 years."

"He joined us at time where we had considerable plans for growth and by attaching himself to our project gave everything genuine credibility form the outset. Ryan will always be welcome at Gilvenbank and all who spent time with him on or off the field in his time with us will I'm sure look back with fondness."
