The club are delighted that Scotland all rounder Safyaan Sharif has joined the club from our Premier League neighbours Falkland.

There is a sense of excitement ahead of the new season as the club begins our 60th Anniversary Year.
- Kenny Crichton, Club Chairman

Sharif (25) is a regular in Grant Bradburn’s Scotland squad and being a local lad is well known to many at GCC; having been on the receiving end of both his batting and bowling exploits in his time with Falkland.

Last season he took 34 wickets in the Premier League and also represented Scotland in the World T20 in India. His most notable achievement with the bat as 133 not out versus Ireland down in Ayr and this week he will head out to Dubai with the Scotland squad to take part in the Desert T20.

Glens Chairman Kenny Crichton commented; “We are delighted to be able to bring Safyaan to the club. A phenomenally gifted player with both bat and ball; undoubtedly with his peak years still to come.”

“Our 1st team have had a rapid rise over the past few years but this Winter things went into a state of transition with a couple of players moving on to seek new challenges; we see Safyaan joining the club as the next chapter in our journey and I know several of our talented younger players will be looking forward to working with and learning from him.
There is already a sense of excitement ahead of the new season as the club begins our 60th Anniversary Year.”

On signing for the Glens Safyaan Sharif said; “I’ve watched the rise and rise and Glenrothes with interest this past few seasons. They are clearly a club who go about things in a positive way and the quality of some of the young players has really caught my attention”.

“This club is the closest in Scotland to my home in Fife and I’m really looking to being a part of what looks like an exciting future. I’m off to Dubai with Scotland this week but cannot wait to get back for pre-season training and begin working with my new teammates.”

Pre-season training gets underway soon and following a series of players retiring from the game the Glens have places to fill in all 3 of our Saturday teams and our Sunday team; as well as midweek Twenty20 matches. We are looking for players of all ages and skill levels to get involved with the club in 2017 and invite anyone interested to attend our indoor training sessions FREE of charge, no equipment is needed.
