Volunteer Wellbeing and Engagement Survey

The importance of volunteering

Coaches and volunteers are the backbone of sport in the community. During these unprecedented times, it is important that we provide as much support to our coaches and volunteers as we possibly can with so many uncertainties and changes to everyday life.

In February 2021, we ran a Volunteer Wellbeing and Engagement Survey to gauge volunteers and helpers views on how we can best support volunteering within the Gladiators and to strengthen our planning approaches for the return to cricket.

Survey results

The survey has shown us that there is a committed volunteer community, who broadly understand their roles and responsibilities though more should be done to provide clarity on their particular role(s) and how that fits with the overall strategic priorities of the Gladiators.

It has also shown that many within the Gladiators community see the positive benefits that can be gained through providing social and community engagement opportunities and these should continue to be strengthened going forward.

The results showed that as a club we are already doing the right things in ensuring the safety of all participants in response to Covid-19 restrictions, though we should keep these under review to ensure full compliance with return to cricket protocols - particularly if individuals (volunteers or participants) have specific concerns they want covered.

The feedback has enabled us to develop a 10 point action plan to further enhance our planning arrangements, and it is crucial that these are shared with the respondents and wider Gladiators community and get their buy-in to actually deliver them.
