Winter Dance Completes Fantastic 2014

A night of celebration at Gilvenbank Hotel with special awards for John Bell, Ian Cadden, Cameron Ross & Ian Dale. Plus a tribute to Phillip Hughes.

The club were delighted to welcome just over 100 people to the Gilvenbank Hotel.

New Club Chairman Alasdair Sim kicked things off with a fitting photographic tribute to Australian batsman Phillip Hughes who tragically died on Thursday following an injury sustained whilst batting at the Sydney Cricket Ground whilst on 63 not out.

Following a delicious meal proceedings moved on to the traditional presentation of Baggy Blue caps for all the clubs 2014 debutant players whom were in attendance on the evening. Additionally there were Baggy Blues for players who made their debut in previous seasons but had not attended a club dinner since they were introduced in 2011.

The newly named "Ramsay Award" in memory of Bill and Maureen for club person of the year was awarded to Kelly Shepherd for all her efforts in forming the Ladies Committee and the tasks they undertook throughout 2014.

Club Scorer Lesley Anne Davidson was thanked once again for all her efforts with the presentation of an inscribed pen.

We then saw 3 club legends inducted to the GCC Hall of Fame, with Ian Cadden,Cameron Ross and Ian Dale all receiving this special honour in recognition of exemplary dedication and commitment to GCC.

The presentation concluded with GCC Hall of Fame inductee number 1 John Bell, who retired this year following a 57 year playing career; bestowed the honour of being made a Life Member as well as Life President of the club.

Without further delay the night was handed over to DJ Robbie MacMillan who put on a superb disco and the guests in attendance danced the night away.

- Our Winter Dance Raffle was drawn on the night and the full list of winners and prizes and will be published shortly. Congratulations to Nigel Duthie who scooped the £100 cash prize!

- Can all players who were awarded Baggy Blues on the night please ensure these are handed back to Kenny Crichton who will get them embroidered with your name and debut year.
