GCC lost the toss and were asked to bat first at DAFS. new opening partnership of Greaves and Culley started but didn't get of to a great start when in the 5th over Culley was caught at slip for 4, he was soon followed by Robbie Wright for 2 with GCC 15/2 not the best of starts. Wilkinson came out to join Greaves and both started to punish the DAFS bowlers. Greaves was next to go with the score on 63, 28 of which he made. 2 overs later and Ben was out aswell for 26. Vasu and Fraser Gosse the 2 new batsman ad with GCC desperately needing a partnership they found one with the batsman putting on 52 in 17 overs before Vasu was caught for 34. Hudson was next in and hit a quickfire 23 before being bowled soon followed by Gosse who made a patient 34. Akbar was next in and with the job of taking the team to 200 started to expand hitting some very nice shots and taking loads of singles, along with Scott(9) and Kenny(4) they took the score to 211 all out with Rizwan finishing on 30*
Afte teas it was the usuall opening bowling pair of Kenny Crichton and Rizwan who took the new ball, They kept it tight at the start with Kenny picking up the first wicket caught and bowled of a slower ball. Rizwan came off and Robbie on to bowl next picking up a wicket in his first over. The other opening batsman decided to start playing his shots. Robbie eventually got the breakthrough though caught by Ben Wilkinson of a skyer. that was the second of 4 wickets for Robbie(4/36) next ball he took the next wicket LBW to leave him on a hattrick but unfortunately it didn't happen. Scott Lucas was next on to bowl after Kenny finished his 10 overs(1/26) and again looked good picking up 2 wickets on his way to 2/17. MDAFS number 4 batsman was in and GCC knew they needed him out to be sure of victory and thanks to a good catch at cover from Guy Hudson of the bowling of Robbie Wright GCC had him. Rizwan came back on to bowl and picked up his icket for the day before Guy Hudson came on to pick up the last 2 for figures of 2/2. MDAFS 117 all out.
Next week see's GCC welcome SMRH to Gilvenbank in what could arguably be the biggest game of the season with them being relegated last season and desperate to get promoted like GCC.
