Fife Squires vs Glenrothes CC
Glens lose out to last years Fife T20 champions in opening game.
Glenrothes skipper Robbie Wright won the toss and decided his team would have a bowl first.
It didn't start to well though initially GCC players Ben Wilkinson and Fraser Gosse who play for Fife Squires were watchful when Wright bowled due to his swing with the new ball but seized the opportunity at the other end tearing into Graham Dodds jnr and Richard Cox with Dodds going for 21 off 2 overs and Cox going for 25 off 2 overs. this gave The squires the start they needed with them pushing onto 70 without loss after 8 overs. Ben soon retired on 50 and Glenrothes finally got there first wicket when Libin Thomas bowled Fraser. The innings slowed up nicely with Kris Glen(4-0-18-0),Kenny Paton(3-0-15-1) and Libin(3-0-16-2)all bowling incredibly well and kept it tight. Robbie came on and finished the innings getting a wicket and finishing with figures of 1/21 off 4 overs.
To the Batting and Glenrothes never got going Shane Munro and big hitter Kris Glen opened up and found it very hard to get runs away. Kris eventually went for the big shot and was caught for 6. This brought Robbie in and both picked up plenty singles but found the boundarys very hard to come by. wickets kept falling at regular intervals and Glenrothes were eventually all out for 57 from 13.5 overs. Robbie Wright 19 not out at the end although perhaps should have been out earlier having been dropped 3 times.
Not the best of starts for Glenrothes in the Fife T20 bbut plenty games yet to be played.
