Denise Wallace Appointed Chairperson at AGM
Glenrothes Cricket Club is delighted to welcome Denise Wallace as our first female Chairperson.
Denise, best known for her work with North Glenrothes Community Council (NGCC); assumed the role from Kenny Crichton at the club’s recent AGM.
In what is undoubtedly a period of transition for the club the overriding theme from the AGM is to build on the community lead foundations with the Glenrothes Gladiators (Juniors) and the new pavilion constructed in the Gilvenbank at the forefront.
Club Director Greig Hopcroft commented; “Ever since the club relocated to the Gilvenbank Park, we’ve been keen to establish links within the local community; Denise along with her colleagues at NGCC have been pivotal supporters of the clubs wider aims and objectives. The new pavilion and the work of Graham Dodds with the Glenrothes Gladiators plus the benefits of being part of the Gilvenbank Community Sports Hub; there has never been a better time to welcome a Chairperson like Denise, someone widely respected within the local community with a track record of success.”
“Following relegation from the Premier League in 2018, the club has reassessed our goals and objectives – as expected many of the 1st XI players have since moved on to seek new challenges in the upper echelons of league cricket. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the players who represented the club with distinction during recent years and especially to Ben Wilkinson and Gary Wilkinson who gave so much to the club both on the off the field”.
The club still aim to field 3 weekend teams next season and our commitment to kids’ multi-sport and junior soft and hard ball cricket are unaffected by the 1st XI relegation from the Premier League.

The club have also announced a Works Day on Sunday 11 November 2018 in order to prepare club equipment for the new pavilion. We expect to announce a date in March 2019 for the opening of the new facility.
Indoor Training will begin in January and membership options/fees will be announced shortly.
