Our 3rd XI skipper Craig Gould checked the Gilvenbank Park ground early on Saturday morning but with so much heavy rain having fallen on Friday night he simply no choice but to call-off the match versus Kirk Brae 2nd XI.
A few minutes later the 4th XI game versus Preston Village CC 2nd XI was gone as well, with the opposition unable to raise a team so 20 points to GCC 4th XI but not in the way they'd have wanted.
Despite the results our 1st XI have enjoyed their dabble with the Scottish Cup but the CSL Eastern Division 1 was always our bread and butter this season; following promotion last year consolidation at this higher level is absolutely key and Greig Hopcroft was delighted to skipper his side to an opening day victory in a shortened 35 over match at Penicuik CC. In a good all round team effort the top performers were Chris Greaves with the bat plus Kenny Crichton and Steve Rowley with the ball.

The 2nd XI retained their 100% record with a comfortable victory over our neighbours Falkland CC 3rd XI at the Riverside Park with some fine batting by Willie Morrison and Richard Evason (pictured).
