The club came together on Tuesday evening for a fun Awards Night, recognising the players, volunteers, and rising talents who made the 2025 season such a success.
It was a night filled with shared memories, good food and well‑earned celebration as trophies were presented across the senior 1st and 2nd XI teams.
1st XI BOWLER of the Year MAYANK SAUTIYAL - Mayank had an outstanding season, claiming 35 wickets at an average of 16.4 runs per wicket along with two Michelle's (five-fers). A standout memory of him sending the stumps cartwheeling multiple times at Penicuik!
1st XI BATTER of the Year SUFYAN AHMED - Sufyan once again showed significant progress with his batting, with his destructive focus often tempered with excellent shot selection patience. Sufyan scored 558 runs at an average of 43, with a high score of 99 versus Kinloch where he was trapped LBW! Govind Singh with 435 runs at 36 with a high score of 93 would also have been a very worthy winner.
1st XI PLAYER of the Year MAYANK SAUTIYALl - along with his 35 wickets, semi-reluctant batter Mayank also scored 351 runs at 44 with a high score of 96 runs in the league, along with 4 catches and 1 run out. This increased to 515 runs at 40 across all 1st XI games. A very deserved winner!
1st XI CAPTAIN's PLAYER of the Year ANAS TANVEER and BEN KRZYZANOWSKI - this prize goes to a player who not only performed well on the pitch but puts in exceptional effort. The 2025 was showed by two teenagers, Anas and Ben . Both showed significant progress in their game, justifying their positions as core 1st XI players. Ben took 20 wickets at 29 and scored his first senior 50 at Arbroath, along with consistently putting in strong performances in the field. Anas' shift to an off-spinner proved successful with 15 wickets at 24 and some solid batting displays also.
2nd XI BOWLER of the Year KEVIN LE ROUX - Kevin was regularly unlucky with his bowling but still claimed 12 wickets at 18, as well as being a game-changer in the 1st XI when called up!
2nd XI BATTER of the Year IKRAM ULLAH - quite simply when Ikram's batting came off it was more than likely the primary reason for the 2nd XI claiming a win. Effortless and destructive in equal measure, it was a fantastic season for Ikram with scoring 410 league runs at an average of 41 and a high score of 94. Great credit was also given to young Karthik Coppisetty who put proper fear into opposition teams when he played - all too infrequently unfortunately, but 195 runs from 4 innings at an average of 49 was phenomenal also.
2nd XI PLAYER of the Year IKRAM ULLAH - as as well as being a destructive batter, Ikram had an outstanding season with the ball also, claiming 13 wickets at 18 and taking a number of miracle catches. With his impeccable timing on the pitch not quite matched in his arrival time for games, Ikram also had another memorable moment in the season - losing his car keys at Kinloch resulting in just about every player doing a finger-tip search across the whole ground only to find them in the pivvy later!
2nd XI CAPTAIN's PLAYER of the Year JOE MYLES - wee Joe was a pivotal player for the 2s across the season. He cemented his place in the top order with a gritty early season 37 at Broomhall, a very tough opposition, and also took 11 wickets at an average of 23. His skipper Big Joe noted that Wee Joe sums up the main motivations of the 2s - played with a smile, improving all the time and a real joy to captain.
Maureen Ramsay CLUB PERSON of the Year GRAEME PURVIS - this award recognises outstanding support for the club both on and off the park. Graeme was a very worthy winner, all the more remarkable given he doesn't actually play cricket! He was a never-ending source of help and advice in our off-field operations, always lending a hand in grounds maintenance tasks, donating items to improve our facilities and being a constant sounding board to offer advice. Huge thanks from us all Graeme!
Thanks were given to all players, families and supporters for their commitment throughout the year, noting that the strength of the club lies in the passion of its people.
With pre‑season preparations just about to get underway, excitement is building for what promises to be another memorable year.
Congratulations to all our trophy winners - your hard work and achievements make the club proud.
