The committee met earlier this week to welcome new members and confirm plans for the season ahead.
Strengthening support for junior cricket development was highlighted as a key priority, including improving links with schools and ensuring appropriate safeguarding steps, PVG checks, and coaching support are in place. The club also noted the ongoing need for more qualified coaches to deliver a consistent whole‑club coaching programme. A new R&D XI captain is still to be appointed, and all captains were reminded of the importance of attending the weekly Tuesday selection meeting to finalise team selections and publish these early to help everyone plan.
The club confirmed that fundraising efforts have successfully enabled the purchase of new mobile covers, with the order now placed. Concerns were raised about potential damage or vandalism, and actions were agreed to chain the covers together where possible and explore CCTV support via the Sports Hub.
Broader discussions on club priorities focused on strengthening player pathways, streamlining membership processes, and integrating fundraising more firmly into governance. Sponsorship activity will adopt a more structured and consistent approach this season, supported by clearer messaging and targeted outreach. In the short term, this will be achieved by refining the club’s existing “governance” priority to place greater emphasis on fundraising. Players are also reminded of the need to join one or more of the Action Groups linked to our club priorities, with the fundraising‑focused group in particular requiring additional support.
Health and safety actions included maintaining first‑aid readiness, ensuring junior safety during games and training sessions, and adopting a locked‑garage policy which will require different approaches to equipment access.
The next meeting will take place shortly before the first 2nd XI league fixtures on 25 April to ensure teams are appropriately prepared for the season ahead.
