Skipper Ian Dale welcomed back FA Cup Final pair Greig Hopcroft and Ryan Watson into the side following Saturdays impressive opening league victory.
Dundee won the toss and elected to bat on a nice evening, though this later turned out to be a pleasent but cold evening.
The game couldnt have got off to a better start with Farooq Khan clean bowling the opening batsman first ball of the game. Wickets fell at steady intervals and all the bowlers deserve enormous credit. Ryan Watson took 3 wickets on debut, Kenny Crichton 2 wickets, with Rowley and Khan taking 1 wicket a piece. In addition there was an excellent run out from Richard Evason with a direct hit at the stumps. Dundee were all out for 71 off the last ball of their 20 over innings.
In reply Hopcroft and Watson began steadily against some very solid bowling from the Dundee opening pair. Hopcroft was bowled for 7, Greaves didnt trouble the scorer and Khan came in to blast 23 runs from only 9 balls to take the tie in Glenrothes' favour. However, it was Watson that held the innings together batting through for a well earned 34 runs to see Glenrothes home in 12.2 overs.
An excellent win to begin the Murgitroyd campaign, with an away trip next at either Arbroath or Aberdeen Grades.
A big thanks to Spider and all at Dundee HSFP for their hospitality, and we would wish them all the best for the remainder of the season. Also thanks to John Bell for umpiring the match on behalf of Glenrothes.
