Glenrothes skipper Greig Hopcroft once again won the toss and elected to bat on a decent looking pitch.
Things were not as easy as he thought however, with the pitch certainly helping the bowlers up front and doing lots early in the game.
The innings never really got started and with some tight Falkland bowling Glenrothes seemed to be on the back foot. The main problem was that once partnerships started to form, they were not taken on to the next stage an were broken at the 20-30 mark.
Chris Greaves with 44, Steve Rowley with 36 not out and a late flurry from Jordan Davidson with 29 including 3 big sixes helped get Glenrothes up to a decent total of 166. Confidence was high and it was felt that was a defendable total with the bowling options available.
How wrong could we be? a 108 run partnership between Falkland openers Ferguson and Henderson very quickly took the game away from Glenrothes. A mixture of poor bowling and poor fielding mixed together to allow the Falkland openers to ride their luck but they managed to punish the bad ball when they were required too.
Both openers fell with Henderson amassing 70 runs, as well as overseas player Bychkov who made 24. However the experienced Davie Gray saw the home side over the line with 19 overs to spare.
A very dissapointing all round display, however the Glens must now bounce back and what better way than a home game against Freuchie next Saturday!!
