Following last weeks poor performace from the team they were determined to bounce back with victory over local rivals Freuchie at Riverside Park.

Following some overnight rain the mop up operation began early on the Saturday morning, however this was thwarted somewhat when the heavens opened at approx 10.45.

Following a long delay the mopping up began once again and all the Glenrothes boys got involved with the aim of getting the game played. Their efforts were rewarded when it was decided to play a shortened game and skipper Greig Hopcroft won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Things couldnt have started better for the Glen's with opening bowlers Darren Lewis and Kenny Crichton taking 5 wickets between them with only 2 runs on the board! Unfortunately the weather reappeared and the players left the field with the covers being pulled onto the pitch oncemore.

After a further delay and an early tea play resumed with a further reduction taking the match down to 27 overs per side. Glenrothes continued to plug away taking wickets at important times whilst Freuchie managed to scratch their way up to 68 runs from their 27 overs losing 9 wickets in the process.

In reply the Duckworth Lewis total for Glenrothes to chase was 69 in 27 overs. Richard Evason and Jordan Davidson opened the batting with the aim of getting the runs as quickly as possible with more rain hovering around us. Davidson unfortunately fell for only 5 but Evason along with Musti Beg continued to punish some poor bowling and took the team to the brink before Beg was out caught with only a few runs left to win.

Chris Greaves joined Evason and they scored the runs required to complete a quite remarkable game and excellent victory for Glenrothes.

We now take a break from league action and have 3 scottish cup weeks now to play starting next week at home to East Premier side Aberdeenshire.
