Skipper Greig Hopcroft won the toss and elected to bat first.
New opening pair Hopcroft of Richard Evason didn't last all that long with Richie not committing to his shot and palming the ball off to the short gully fielder without scoring. Hopcroft and Chris Greaves then put on anoter 50 partnership together before the latter was out for 31 caught at slip after chasing a wide delivery. Ryan Watson then came and went for a score of 8 which brought Guy Robinson to the crease. He and Hopcroft put on 46 run partnership before Robinson chipped one back to the bowler having scored 12. Robbie Wright in his return to the team following a finger injury was next in and he started by hitting a lovely 4 to the boundary, however he then played some catching practice with the slip fielder, out for 5.
Hopcroft was next to go after he was stumped for 61, a disspointing end when a big score was there for the taking. Rowley (23) and some lusty blows from Cammy Ross (24) got Glenrothes up to a slighly under par 193 all out.
A change of tactic saw the skipper give the new ball to Chris Greaves to bowl some pace, with Kenny Crichton at the other end bowling his usual tight line and length.
This paid immediate dividend when in the 2nd over, Crichton's 1st, he managed to snap up 2 wickets. The first was and important wicket, that of skipper Steel who was caught by Hopcroft at slip diving full length to his left to take a one-handed catch. The 2nd was a good catch by Greaves to leave Penicuik 7 for 2 after only 2 overs.
After some steadying the Glenrothes bowlers managed to pick off the wickets at important times, special mention to both Crichton (4-32 in his 9 overs) and Watson (2-25 in his 13 overs).
Another excellent win for Glenrothes keeps then tagging along at the top of the league and sets up next weeks top of the table clash with Forfarshire nicely.
