Skipper Greig Hopcroft lost the toss and Glenrothes were asked to bat 1st on a very good looking pitch at Mannofield.
The premier division sides opening bowlers provided pace, swing and accuracy against opening pair Greig Hopcroft and Robbie Wright. Hopcroft was 1st to go LBW to Singh.
Robbie Wright and Chris Greaves looked comfortable and played some fine shots before Wright was bowled for 19 with the score on 38. Unfortunately from this point Glenrothes wickets began to tumble with 5 LBW's in the innings. Chris Greaves look accomplished and played some excellent shots in his 48 not out before he ran out of partners with Glenrothes all out for only 94 runs.
After tea the reply started well with Jordan Davidson taking a wicket in the 3rd over, caught behind by Alec Davies. However big South African Venske then began to open his shoulders and whilst he did have a little luck early on he hit some lusty blows to take his side towards victory. Farooq Khan earned a consolation wicket with another LBW but Aberdeenshire were victorious by 8 wickets.
Next week sees Glen's 1st home game in the Scottish Cup with Stenhousemuir the visitors to Riverside Park.
