Skipper Greig Hopcroft lost the toss for the second week running and Glenrothes were asked to bat 1st on a very good looking wicket.
Openers Hopcroft and Steve Rowley set about their task and were putting the ball away and accumulating the runs. A slack shot from Hopcroft with 78 on the board brought Chris Greaves to the crease. The pair continued the onslaught and they brought up a 100 partnership for the 2nd wicket. Rowley was next man out and Mushti Beg, Guy Robinson and Kris Glen pushed towards the end and got the score to a respectable 227 for 5.
In reply Uddingston made a steady start being patient and dispatching the bad balls as required. In the 7th over a throw from the boundary to Greaves saw the latter damage a fingernail (worse than it sounds!!) and have to give up the keeping gloves with skipper Hopcroft taking over.
Wickets fell at crucial times and Glenrothes never felt they were out of the game esp with the fall of 3 quick wickets taking the score from 197 for 3 to 198 for 6. New batsmen were in and Glens seemed to be on the up however McKenzie steadied the ship and managed to see Uddy home with just over 10 overs to spare.
A much better general performance form Glenrothes especially with the bat which has been sadly not the case in previous Scottish Cup matches. Lots of positives to be taken into next weeks trip to Stenhousemuir in the final Scottish Cup group match.
