Skipper Greig Hopcroft won the toss and elected to bat 1st on a good looking pitch on what was yet another glorious day of weather.
Things didnt get off to a great start with Hopcroft himself falling in the 2nd over with only 4 on the board. Steve Rowley and Chris Greaves then began to settle into their game and put together an excellent 74 partnership before Rowley was caught behind having made 22. Greaves continued to bat on and passed his 50 midway through the innings and following support from Musti Beg (15), Guy Robinson (11), Haps Pal came to the crease. He batted well playing some good shots in his not out knock of 35. Greaves fell for a really well made 69 and the Glenrothes total got to 187 from their 50 overs.
In reply Stenny made a bright start with Rafiq and Donnan before the former was first to go Caught Robinson off the bowling of Jordan Davidson. Davidson then followed this up with a quick 2nd taking Shahzad, caught behind by Greaves. 59 for 2 and Glenrothes were still in the game. This however brought overseas pro Jappie to the crease and after a couple of early scares he was to bat through the rest of the innings making 69 not out. Again Glenrothes were given a sniff when overseas amateur Donnan was out, 105 for 3, Stenny still needing over 80 runs to win. However an 80 run partnership was to see Stenhousemuir towards victory, even 2 more late wickets werent enough for Glenrothes.
Stenhousemuir reached their victory target for the loss of 5 wickets. Another reasonable display from Glenrothes who now return to league business when they entertain Penicuik at Riverside Park this Saturday.
