Glenrothes made the short journey to Kirkcaldy to take on local rivals Dunnikier in a midweek Fife Cup 20/20 tie tonight.

Glens skipper Greig Hopcroft lost the toss and the home side decided to bat first on a very soft pitch.

Opening bowler Darren Lewis took the 1st wicket with only the 3rd ball of the innings, clean bowling the opening bowler without score. Wickets continued to fall regularly with Robert Hutchison, Steve Rowley and Jatinder Pal all coming on nearer the end to clean up the Dunnikier tail.

In reply Guy Robinson and Ian Dale set about chasing down the target of 63 to win a place in the next round. Both looked comfortable until Dale was adjudged LBW from the bolwing of Dunnikier skipper Sharif. Khan came and went pretty quickly before Robinson was joined by Greig Hopcroft. The pair saw it nearly over the line before Robinson was out caught with the team needing 1 run to win!! Ashgar Ali Tabasum joined the skipper to get the 1 run required, Hopcroft finishing with 25 not out.

Next round sees a semi-final away trip to Falkland on Tuesday 4th June.
