Glenrothes CC made the short trip over the West Lomond to take on Largo at Scroggie Park in Falkland in the 2013 Fife Cup Final.

Skipper Greig Hopcroft lost the toss for the 2nd day in a row but once again got his wish by batting first on a very good looking pitch at Falkland.

New opening pair Chris Greaves and Kris Glen got off to a fantastic start taking the score to 65 in the 8th over before Glen was out bowled. 2's skipper Ally Sim was next in and batted well but ran out of steam in the hot sunshine, making 17 quick runs. Hopcroft came to the crease to join Greaves before the latter was the next wicket to go falling 1 short of a well made half-century.

Robinson and Haps Pal finished the innings off, with Glenrothes ending their 20 overs with 141 runs for the loss of 5 wickets.

The Glenrothes opening bowlers managed to keep a tight grip of the Largo reply with Kenny Crichton and Darren Lewis bowling well once again in tandem. There was a steady stream of wickets, pick of the bowlers was undoubtedly Jordan Davidson who ended with 5 wickets for only 21 runs. Guy Robinson certainly helped out with 4 catches, Greig Hopcroft had 2 and Ally Sim also chipped in with 2 catches!

Things looked to be nearly over with Largo 89 for 9 in the 16th over, however Alex Anderson had other ideas and began stroking some boundaries and making things a little more nervy than required towards the end! He batted very well for his 55 runs. Largo finished 10 runs short of the Glenrothes total.

Glenrothes won the Fife Cup for the first time since the mid 1980's. Special mention must go to Nigel Duthie and Ali King for scoring for Glenrothes. As well as all the many supporters who followed the team and cheered them to victory, it was all very much appreciated.
