Glenrothes skipper Chris Greaves won the toss and decided to bat on what looked like the best deck so far at Gilvenbank this year, Glenrothes got off to a bad start when Graeme Beghin, playing against his old club was bowled the second ball of the game for 0. Chris came out to the middle to join Alec Davies with both looking good until Chris played on for 7. Ben Wilkinson was next in and looked in good touch trying to rebuild with Alec Davies who was playing sum great shots but went for one to many and was bowled for 22. Next in was Robbie Wright and along with Ben Wilkinson the score was ticking along nicely before Ben was adjudged LBW despite getting bat on it with the score on 73. Vasu Reddy(9) and Greig Hopcroft(4) were both in and out quickly and Glenrothes now in a spot of trouble with Glenrothes 91/6, Fraser Gosse came in and along with Robbie Wright put on 84 with Robbie passing 50 and ending up 72 not out with 2 fours and a six. Fraser was out with 5 overs to go for a good 34 which brought Graham Dodds jnr to the crease on his debut for the 1st XI and done a good job rotating the strike and finished on 5 not out with the team finishing 198/7 of their 50 overs.
Kenny Crichton and Graeme Beghin opened the bowling and bowled very well, after there spell of 7 overs each Edinburgh were 29/5, Graeme with 3/16 and Kenny with 2/12. Robbie and Scott Lucas came on next and the wickets continued to fall with Robbie getting 2 including a sharp catch from Ben Wilkinson and Scott getting 1. Now 51/8 Fraser and Dodds jnr came on and managed to get in an over each with Fraser picking up the last 2 wickets and Edinburgh finishing on 57.
A good performance in the end and Glenrothes yet again proving very sharp in the field and solid in the bowling department, next week see's Freuchie come to Gilvenbank for the first big rival match of the season.
