Glenrothes beat local rivals Freuchie by 126 runs.

In the first big rival match to be played at Gilvenbank Chris Greaves won the toss and decided to bat first on what looked like a much better wicket than we had seen before at Gilvenbank.

Unfortunatly things didn't start too well for Glenrothes with Greig Hopcroft(0) Chris Greaves(3) and Graeme Beghin(10)all out quickly and with the score 15/3 we looked in a bit of bother. this brought Robbie Wright and Ben Wilkinson to the crease who looked to build a partnership. They were looking good and had got the score along too 46 off 15 overs before Ben was given out LBW for 24, similar to last week it appeared Ben had hit the ball yet was given out LBW. Robbie soon followed for 13 when he was bowled by young Ross Mcmurdo. The score now 55/5 it appeared Glenrothes were in real trouble but the experienced Ryan Watson along with Fraser Gosse battled back and both batted very nicely in a partnership that lasted 103 runs. Ryan was eventually bowled by Scott Gourlay for a very well made 59, his second 50 in 2 games for Glenrothes this season. Fraser Gosse also looked good and like he would make his first fifty for the Glens but unfortunately was caught in the deep for 41. with the score now 178/7 it was up to Vasu and Alec to try get the score up past 200. They done a good job hitting Freuchie's professional all over the ground and made 34 runs of his 3 final overs. The score eventually finished on 213/8 with Vasu 33 not out.

The Glens were very happy with this batting performance and were confident they could defend their total. Graeme opened the bowling and started well getting the experienced Robbie Birrell out clean bowled in the first over. Kenny Crichton opened from the other end against his old club and showed them exactly what they are missing, he bowled his 10 overs through with figures of(10-3-10-3) Robbie Wright also against his former club bowled well with figures of(5-1-7-2) this left Freuchie in real trouble at 19/7 and looked like they would struggle to pass 50. fortunately for Freuchie they finally found a partnership with their professional Akbar(25) and Asif Hussain(26) sticking about for a bit. their partnership was finally broken when Scott Lucas(6-0-32-1) had Akbar caught at short mid wicket. Graeme Beghin came back on and got the last 2 wickets to leave him with figures of 3/5 and Freuchie all out for 87.

Next week see's Glenrothes hopefully play their first away league game of the season against fellow unbeaten side Murrayfield DAFS.
