On by far the best weekend for weather this season Glenrothes made the trip to Leith academy to play fellow unbeaten side Murrayfield DAFS.
Glenrothes skipper Chris Greaves lost the toss and was asked to bowl first with Graeme and Kenny to open. They kept it tight at the start with a lot of maidens. Kenny Crichton got the first wicket caught be Graeme Beghin at mid off then quickly followed with another wicket out LBW. This left Murrayfield DAFS 4/2 which brought DAFS professional out to bat and along with the opener Muhammed they found it hard to get runs only having 8 on the board after 12 overs 5 maidens for Graeme and 4 for Kenny. Muhammed then fell to Beghin clean bowled quickly followed by Kenny's 3rd wicket which was bowled leaving DAFS in real trouble at 9/4. DAFS never really got going and the change of bowlers brought wickets with Vasu Reddy and Robbie Wright both getting 3 wickets each. DAFS finished on 73 thanks to a late cameo from A Jaffery.
Batting and Glenrothes got off to a bad start losing Graeme and Chris early again this week for 4 and 2 respectively to the DAfS pro A.Khurshid. so 15/2 and Ben Wilkinson came in to join Greig Hopcroft and looked in great touch hammering the quick Khurshid all over the ground including a couple of nice pull shots for 4 and a excellent straight drive for 6. with the score on 67 and only 7 needed to win Greig was out clean bowled for 17, this brought Robbie Wright to the crease who finished the game with a 6 right down the line of the live stream camera for a nice finish. Wright on 8* and Ben finishing on a faultless 37*.
Next week sees Glenrothes face their biggest challenge to date against the only other unbeaten side in the league RH Corstorphine. It should be a really good game with last year having 2 close games between the sides and both coming out on top at their home grounds, hopefully Glenrothes will have the same result at Gilvenbank this year.
