Glenrothes 1st XI make it to half way point in league unbeaten.

Glenrothes 1st XI make it 6 wins out of 6 as they move top of the league at the half way point with RH Corstorphine slipping up against Murrayfield DAFS.

Glenrothes were asked to bat first and got off to great start with openers Graeme Beghin and Greig Hopcroft batting very well and with good aggression, they batted the first 20 overs for 82 runs. Greig Hopcroft was the first wicket caught behind for 50 an innings which included 6 fours and 2 sixes. This brought skipper Chris Greaves to the crease who looked good again ut was unluckily ran out for only 9.

Not long after Graeme felt a niggle in his side but with only a few needed for his 50 he got to it before retiring hurt so as to not damage his side anymore. Ben Wilkinson soon followed being caught on the boundary bringing Ryan Watson to the crease to join Robbie Wright with the score on 134 they batted well with Robbie picking up the 1s and 2s and Ryan going for the boundarys and put on a 58 run partnership before Robbie was caught behind for 26. Ryan continued before he was caught for 43 an innings which included 4 maximums. a couple late cameos from Alec Davies(20) and Jordan Davidson(9) enabled Glens to reach 240/8.

It was up to Kenny Crichton and Jordan Davidson to open the bowling this week with Graeme resting and Penicuik got off to a flyer racing to 42/0 off 8 overs, the bowling change of Vasu Reddy brought luck with him picking up 2 wickets in 2 balls then followed by a wicket the next over to leave Penicuik now 43/3. they never really recovered from this and only opener Taylor with 44 showed any resistance. Vasu finished with 3/14 and Kenny Crichton(2/21) Scott Lucas(2/18) and Chris Greaves(2/19) all picking up 2 wickets each as Penicuik finished 93 all out.
