Glenrothes hammer Holy Cross by 306 runs to make it 9 out of 9 in the ESCA Championship.

There was a sombre mood amongst the players following a minutes silence held in memory of club legend Bill Ramsay who sadly passed away after along illness just a few hours before the match.

The weather was fine on Saturday morning but with rain expected later on there were mixed feelings in the Glenrothes side about whether to bat or bowl first. In the end skipper Chris Greaves won the toss and decided to bat first to try get some confidence going about the side with a big total. Glenrothes started off very well racing to 48 off 10 overs with Alec Davies doing the bulk of the scoring having 30 of these runs. Graeme soon took over with some huge shots and in the next 10 overs they took 72 runs taking the score too 120/0 off 20.

Graeme passed his fifty and continued to excel with Alec still in the 30s doing well to get Graeme on strike now he was finding his feet and regularly finding the boundary. Alec was the first wicket to fall for 39 with the team on 148. Chris Greaves was the new man in and they survived to the drinks break with Graeme 99 not out.

It wasn't long after the drinks and Graeme passed his 100, the first to be scored at Gilvenbank and he showed no signs of stopping there. Chris soon followed for a score of 2 which brought Ben Wilkinson to the crease and the pair put on 146 in 18 overs with Graeme passing 150 and Ben getting his second fifty for the club before being caught for 65 an innings which included 3 fours and 5 sixes.

The score now 307/3 and Graeme was on 176 with 5 overs to go and looked good to make a double century but unfortunately it wasn't to be as he was caught and bowled for 181 a truly great innings which included 26 fours and 4 sixes. Robbie Wright was next out trying to excel the score even more as he was bowled for 3, then Vasu caught for 1 and Chippy bowled for 12. In the end Glenrothes finished on a huge 350/7 with Jordan Davidson 17 not out and Dodds jnr 0 not out.

Bowling and it was up to Kenneth Crichton and Vasu Reddy to take the honours and started off very well, Vasu kept it very tight at his end bowling maiden after maiden and the batsman were getting very frustrated. It was Kenny who took the wickets though he was keeping it on a length and drawing the batsman into playing there shots which brought him 6/25 from 7 overs his best return for GCC, Vasu picked up 2/1 off 7 overs which included an incredible 6 maidens. A very good tight opening partnership. Scott Lucas came on and bowled well to keep it tight but the last 2 wickets went to Jordan Davidson and Chris Greaves and Holy Cross finished on 44 all out.

Very hard to pick a MOTM between Graeme and Kenny as both had a great day with Graeme smashing 181 and Kenny ripping apart Holy Cross with 6/25, 2 really good performances which will be hard to beat at such a high level on any other day.
