Glenrothes lose unbeaten run in league with narrow defeat to RHC.

Glenrothes have lost their unbeaten league run due to a 12 run defeat to second placed RH Corstorphine.

GCC lost the toss and were asked to field first, it didn't go well for GCC thnks to some very poor fielding with no less than 6 dropped catches and numerous misfields. at the start RHC openers rode their luck a lot with numerous balls falling just short of fielders or landing just over them, the first wicket finally fell thanks to a run out from Graeme Beghin. Graeme also got the other opener caught behind for 29. this is where it got sloppy for GCC with Captain Leeder being dropped 3rd ball and then going on to make 71 not out. Robbie Wright picked up the next 2 wickets first an LBW decision and the other a sharp catch at gully by Ben Wilkinson to end with figures of 10-4-26-2. RHC continued to put together little partnerships but Ryan Watson came on to bowl and managed to break the partnerships and keep it tight finishing with figures of 9-2-31-3 in the end RHC finished on 192/7 definitely a chaseable target but atleast 40 more than they should have had.

GCC didnt start well with Graeme(6) being caught early and soon followed by Greig Hopcroft(17) this left Chris Greaves and Ben Wilkinson at the crease and they started to build a partnership and put GCC In a good looking position although slightly behind the rate at 95/2 off 27 but with wickets in hand. Unfortunately Chris was next out caught for 35 trying to go over the top. Robbie Wright was the next batsman in and looked to push on the score a bit hitting 18 to leave GCC 118/4 after 31. so with 75 needed off 19 overs GCC looked in a strong position but RHC bowled very well restricting the singles and GCC couldn't get a partnership together with wickets continually falling. Ben Wilkinson tried to keep the innings together with a well constructed 61 but when he was caught GCC knew it was going to be a tough ask and unfortunately GCC fell 12 runs short with Kenneth Crichton being the last batsman out. Out of Glenrothes 10 wickets lost 9 were caught which just goes to show that catches do win matches.

Glenrothes are still top of the league with 2 games to play and will be looking to get back on track next week against Grange 2s at Gilvenbank.
