Glenrothes were on their travels to Penicuik for the last game of the season on Saturday knowing that they couldn't afford to lose if they were to get promoted, Glenrothes started by bowling but unfortunately after 5 overs the rain came and the players were off the field. there was a long break and the players didn't get back onto the field till after 2 o clock and it went well with Glenrothes picking up regular wickets having Penicuik 30/3. With Kenny picking up 2 and Graeme 1.Vasu and Robbie then came on to bowl and picked up another wicket each to leave Penicuik in real trouble but unfortunately a partnership then started to form and Penicuik finished on 162/8 a decent total on a wet wicket and outfield.
Glenrothes' chase started well with Glenrothes being 50/2 after 10 overs and looking well on course to go to victory but unfortunately wickets then began to tumble and GCC found themselves 75/7 after the wicket of Graeme Beghin for 41 and in real trouble. Alec Davies and Fraser Gosse put up some resistance but unfortunately GCC fell short and were 110 all out.
With RH Corstorphine's game being called off it meant that because of this loss Glenrothes did not win the league and will not be getting promoted to the Eastern Premiership, its a shame after such a good season but having only played 1 out of the last 5 games leading up to this it was always going to be hard to find form and unfortunately this point was proven on the day.
