On a very wet weekend many weren't sure any cricket would be played at all but due too lots of hardwork with match preparations we managed to get the Scottish cup game under way, it was a late start as we had to wait for the final parts of the grounds to dry out so was reduced to a 47 over a side match.
Chris Greaves won the toss and put Stirling in to bat. Glenrothes found it hard at first as there was a lot of swing as is shown by the 25 wides that were bowled. Graeme(5-0-9-0) and Kenny(8-2-20-0) opened the bowling and both doing a good job with plenty play and misses, it was the change of bowler that brought the first wicket with Robbie Wright taking the first of his 5 wickets(12-2-30-5) on a day which really seemed to suit his bowling with a lot of swing. 2 of these being sharp stumpings from Alec Davies. After the first wicket the rest seemed to fall pretty quickly with a lot of help with the conditions. Vasu Reddy on debut(7-0-23-2) also bowled well with 2 important wickets. Wright also got a run out to leave Stirling 77/8 but unfortunately the last 3 batsman hung about for a while which perhaps damaged Glenrothes ending up on 104 with Bod(2-0-9-1) taking a wicket and Graeme Beghin getting the last with a run out.
The less said about the batting probably the better as Glenrothes never got going and lost wickets regularly ending up all out for 58 with Ben Wilkinson(12) being the only batsman into double figures.
Back to the league next week and Glenrothes will be hoping to bounce back against Edinburgh South with a strong performance. It will be extra special for Graeme as last year he was overseas Professional at Edinburgh South and he will no doubt be looking for an impressive win.
