Glenrothes beat a strong Falkland side by 27 runs (D/L)

Glenrothes began there campaign in the murgitroyd 20/20 with a convincing win over Falkland.

Glenrothes started very well with Vasu Reddy picking up the first wicket in the second over to put pressure on Falkland right from the start. This brought international Safyaan Sharif to the crease who along with fellow opener Bryan Cleaver batted well with loads of 1s and 2s picking up the odd boundary, they were looking comfortable to push on at 64/1 off 10 overs but Scott Lucas(4-0-21-1) picked up the prized wicket of Safyaan with the second ball of his second over thanks to an excelent catch from Fraser Gosse. The next over Fraser was involved yet again picking up the wicket of the overseas Amateur with a good catch from Shane and then Fraser was also involved in the run out which brought the end of Ben Strachan. With the score now 92/4 captain Chris Greaves brought Robbie Wright on and the change brought wickets immediately with Bryan Cleaver getting caught for 44 by Graeme Beghin and then 2 balls later Falkland captain Brock Ditchmen was clean bowled by Wright and had to make the long walk back to the Falkland pavilion for 0. Graeme Beghin picked up the last wicket to fall with a good catch from Chris Greaves and the innings finished on 134/7.

Kris Glen and Graeme Beghin opened the batting for Glenrothes and started off very quickly with both hitting boundarys early on. the score raced to 41 off 5 overs before Kris was caught for a quick and well made 25, Next in was skipper Chris Greaves who ticked the score along nicely leaving most of the big shots to Graeme who looked in great form. Chris was unfortunately stumped for 12 which was not a decision he took kindly too having been adamant his foot never lifted from behind the line. This brought Ben Wilkinson to the crease who along with Graeme kept ticking the score along with neither him or Graeme looking in danger. unfortunately the heavens opened with the score on 91/2 after 12 overs and the players never got back on the field so Glenrothes won the game by Duckworth Lewis method by 27 runs. Graeme finishing on an excellent 44 not out and Ben on 10 not out.
