Glenrothes skipper on the day Robbie Wright lost the toss and was unfortunately asked to bat first, Robbie couldn't have asked for a worse start as after 3 balls Glenrothes were 2 wickets down, Kris Glen had ran himself out without facing a ball followed by Ben Wilkinson being caught at slip first ball. soon after Vasu followed for 0 to leave Glenrothes 1/3 after 2 overs, with such a bad start Glenrothes were always going to have to try consolidate which in a 20 over game you don't have much time to do. Glenrothes finished on 72/9 after there 20 overs with Fraser Gosse the main stay hitting 24 supported by Greig who hit 11.
It was always going to be a tough total to defend but the Glenrothes boys believed they had a chance if they were to take a couple early wickets. It didn't start to well with opening bowler Kenny Crichton being hit for 2 sixes in the first over. after this things slowed down a bit and Kenny picked up the wicket of opening batsman Campbell followed next over by Chris Humphreys taking the wicket of Connor Ryan. Robbie then decided to bring himself on to bowl along with Chris Humphreys and between the 2 off them they kept it very tight with loads of play and misses and balls landing just infront of fielders, Robbie finished with 0/13 off 4 overs and Chris Humphreys 2/7 off 4 overs. so 11 overs in and Falkland were 47/3. Scott Lucas and Jordan Davidson were next to bowl and kept it tight but couldn't get the wickets Glenrothes were desperately needing, again plenty of edges and balls dropping just before fielders. Jordan did eventually get a wicket with only 2 needed to win but it was too late as Falkland got over the line with 4 overs to spare.
A good game played in good spirits and on the day the better team won. Net year Glenrothes will be looking to get to a third successive final and hopefully win back the trophy.
Special thanks to the umpires, Bod for scoring aswell as everyone who came to support the lads in the game.
