Glenrothes CC vs Marchmont CC

Glenrothes 1st XI made it 2 wins out of 2 yesterday with another convincing win this time over Marchmont CC.

Robbie Wright won the toss and elected to bat first on a cold day at Gilvenbank after there stand of 162* last week Ben Wilkinson and Chris Greaves opened the batting again and certainly continued where they had left off. From the of they were very watchful and putting away all the bad balls going at a good rate of 5 an over. new bowlers at each end slowed it down a bit and in the 19th over the first wicket fell with Ben Wilkinson chipping one up to mid off who took an easy catch, out for 35 from 50 balls GCC 75/1. Vasu Reddy was the new batsman and looked to boost up the run rate scoring quickly before being caught for a quick 22. Chris Greaves brought up his second 50 of the season as well as a hundred last week and again was looking in fine touch. Chris and Robbie were going along nicely until New bowler M Loeffen bowled a double bouncer which unfortunately brought an end to Chris's innings, the first time he has been dismissed this year scoring 60 off 96 balls with 9 fours. Unfortunately after this wickets seemed to fall at regular intervals with Robbie making 20 Fraser 19 and Fred Culley 11. GCC in the end finished 203/9 off 50 overs.

After Teas it was Kenny Crichton and Rizwan Akbar to take the new ball and they got off to a perfect start with Kenny taking a wicket in his first over and then Rizwan doing the same next over. before we knew it the score was 7/5 off 5 overs. Kenny Crichton with 2 and Rizwan with 3. After Rizwans spell Robbie came on to bol but unfortunately it didn't go to well with Loeffen picking up the short pitch balls too easily and putting them to the boundary. Next on was Fred Culley and Scott Lucas who both bowled well keeping it tight. by this time Marchmont have moved onto 54/5 before Fred Culley picked up his first GCC wicket getting the Marchmont captain LBW this was soon followed by his second wicket 2 balls later. Marchmont now 56/7. Rizwan Akbar back on to bowl and picked up the prized wicket of Loeffen for 40 caught at mid off by Robbie Wright. he tried desperately to get his first GCC 5 wicket haul but it asnt to be as he finished with figures of 4/4 of 7 overs. Chris Greaves was next to bowl and following his 5 wickets last week picked up 2 more today. in the end Marchmont finishing on 92 all out.
