Glenrothes 1s got off to the perfect start to the 2015 season with a convincing win over DHSFP.

Glenrothes 1s got off to the perfect start to the 2015 season with a convincing win over DHSFP.

Glenrothes batted first with the opening pair of Chris Greaves and Shane Munro, with a wicket that was keeping low it was a slow start with Glens being 11/0 off 5, soon the pair got used to the conditions and played there shots more freely. Chris Greaves reached his fifty after 18 overs and the score 73/0 and retired, this brought Vasu Reddy to the crease to join Shane who was doing a good job of rotating the strike and getting some valuable time out in the middle. Vasu decided he was going to have a swing and it paid off smashing 4 sixes and 4 fours on his way to a quick 51 before retiring, the perfect start for his new season. with the score now 140 new skipper Robbie Wright came to the crease. Shane Munro was next out for a well earned 32, doing his job in keeping an end down while the other end played more freely. Guy Hudson as next out in his first game for GCC but unfortunately it didn't go too well as he was caught for 6 and Robbie caught for 15. Rizwan Akbar also in his first game for GCC came out but unfortunately soon fell for 2. Mark Braid and Alec Davies saw the innings out with some quick running and late boundaries to take GCC to 210/6 after 50 overs Davies 22* Braid 5*.

Bowling and Kenny Crichton took the first over picking up a wicket with his 4th ball clean bowled. Rizwan Akbar the new professional then came on and ripped through the DHSFP batting picking up figures of 2-2-0-3 a great start and DHS 10/4 after 5 overs. It was then decided to take Rizwan off to give some other bowler a bowl, Robbie coming on and keeping it tight with 0/5 off 4 overs and Scott Lucas bowling very well taking 2/10 off 5 overs. Hudson was next on for his first bowl in Scotland and done very well taking his first 2 GCC wickets. at this point the score was 40/8 but the innings slipped a bit as the tail end started to hit big unfortunately the 2 spinners Chris Greaves and Libin Thomas were at the end of this attack, Vasu Reddy was next on to bowl and finished up the innings taking 2 wickets in 3 balls with the other ball being 5 penalty runs due to the ball going through keeper Alec Davies legs and hitting his helmet, the first time most playing have seen this happen during a game.

Altogether a very good performance with a solid fielding display and some confidence building in batting and bowling, next week see's the first league game away to Penicuik where the boys will be looking for revenge after their loss their in the final game of last season.
