GCC captain Kenny Crichton started the day by winning a rare toss at a sunny Grange Loan electing to bowl first.
Rizwan and Kenny opening the bowling picking up a wicket each leaving the home team 33-2 in 10 overs. Robbie Wright picking up 2 wickets and Chris Greaves picking up 1 wicket both bowled well. Carlton were 241-5 when Rizwan came back into the attack finishing with figures of 4-21 and Carlton slumping to 252 losing their last 5 wickets for just 11 runs. Great determined bowling and fielding display by GCC.
GCC's team talk at teas were all about making improvements with the bat including batting the 50 overs and getting ourselves into a winning position.
From the start it was clear that we were there to compete and go for the win. Both Chris and Fred looking great with some beautiful shots being played. Fred getting out for 44 while Chris scoring a great 81. Unfortunately it wasnt to be GCC's day finishing 30 runs short but plenty positives were taken from the days performance showing we can perform at this level.
