After overnight rain Gilvenbank park was surprisingly dry with the game starting on time with GCC captain Kenny Crichton winning the toss and electing to field first.
Arbroath skipper Marc Petrie opened the batting alongside Ross Maclean. Petrie had clearly gave himself the licence to hit hard from the start flashing the ball in the air several times just out of reach of the man at cover. Both Petrie and Maclean playing both of GCC's openers of Akbar and Crichton with ease. Robbie Wright came into the attack picking up the first wicket bringing in Arbroath's Fraser Burnett. Maclean and Burnett alternating the strike before a stop in play for rain resulting in the game being reduced to 46 overs each. Straight after the break Burnett was dropped at Long on, on just 32. GCC never gave up, taking the wicket of Maclean for 38. Only Calvin Burnett could get into double figures, supporting Fraser to his well played 105, Reddy taking the big wicket with a well taken catch from Hudson.
Arbroath finished their innings on 239 for 8 after some good bowling from Hudson, Wright and Greaves and two good run outs.
GCC's batsmen were full of confidence from their batting performance the week before but unfortunately it wasn't to be our day. Some poor shot selection and a struggle to play spin up front proved to much with a disappointing collapse and GCC all out for 72.
