Close but no cigar!

GCC skipper Kenny Crichton won the toss at a sunny Mannofield and elected to bat first on what looked like a lovely wicket.

Glens got to drinks with loss of only one wicket for 100 runs with Chris Greaves and Roy batting nicely together. Shortly after Chris brought up another 50 for the season before being caught to be closely followed by Roy caught on 42. This brought a collapse to the GCC innings with Keegan Rawling the only one looking in nice touch before GCC finishing on 187 all out.

Aberdeens opening batsmen started well clearly enjoying the pace of open bowler Rizwan Akbar but it was swing bowler Kenny Crichton at the other end that picked up the wicket of Chris Venske with the score on 27 caught smartly by Guy Hudson at first slip. Aberdeen soon found themselves on 44-4 with Kenny picking up another wicket and Rizwan the other two. This brought to the crease Aberdeenshires well season pro Harsha Coorey who used his experience to guide his team to victory with small cameos from his team mates along the way. Glens had pushed them all the way with the game finishing in the 47th over for 7 wickets down, this meaning we had gained our first points in the league with 2 bonus points.

Glens captain Crichton said '' It was our best all round performance of the season, we were maybe 25 runs short but i am proud at how we went about our game, we never gave up''

Glens face fellow basement boys Stoneywood Dyce at Gilvenbank on Saturday.
