Glenrothes CC 1st XI made the trip up the A9 to Aberfeldy to take on Breadalbane.

Following last weeks win at home to Dundee HSFP, the 1st XI took to the road for a trip up to beautiful Aberfeldy to take on Breadalbane.

Skipper Greig Hopcroft once again lost the toss and Glens were asked to bat first on a very soft and sloping wicket - this wasn't helped by a weeks worth of rain and little or no preparation on the wicket.

From the 1st ball of the match it was clear that the pitch wasn't the best and following the early wicket of Harry Fry, skipper Hopcroft and Ian Dale put on 50 runs for the 2nd wicket whilst ticking the score along nicely. Hopcroft was next to go for 28 runs after being caught and bowled. The score climbed to 110 before the 4th wicket fell, that of Greg Morris. However, this is was then where the collapse began with the next 6 wickets falling for only 21 runs. Glenrothes 131 all out, with Ian Dale once again carrying his bat for 66 not out.

In reply the Glen's bowlers didnt do themselves any favours with some wayward bowling which saw Breadalbane at 75 for no wicket from 15 overs. Once again Muhammad Assad Dastgir Rafique bowled some excellent stuff and managed 3 wickets for only 17 runs in his 9 overs. Ian Dale from the other end was unlucky but only conceded 29 runs from his 8 overs. Once again young Ben Morris was thrust in at the deep end and showed some remarkable composure including bowling with a wet ball towards the end conceding 20 runs from his 5 overs.

Next week a home game against Kinloch awaits the 1st XI and there are lots to improve on ahead of that game.
