Glenrothes Cricket Club 1st XI travelled to the Capital to take on Murrayfield DAFS in division 1.
Skipper Hopcroft won the toss and decided to have a bowl on a wicket that had quite a bit of grass and that looked like it may do something for the bowlers. This never really turned out to be the case with opener Hayes carrying his bat for the full 50 overs scoring 131 not out. Others supported him well and enabled DAFS to reach a good total of 280 from their 50 overs.
In reply Glenrothes made a slow start with Dale out LBW in the 4th over, Hopcroft hit a boundary 4 followed by a lovely 6 before falling 2 overs later. Greaves and Rowley consolodated for a while before Rowley was out for 24, Greaves followed shortly after for 20. The only other resistance was from Cammy Ross who managed 23 runs. Glenrothes all out for 120.
A very poor bowling and fielding display allowed the Capital side at least 100 runs more than Glens would have been hoping for.
A massive improvement must be evident in next weeks home game against Boroughmuir.
