Glenrothes qualified for the Fife Cup Finals Day on Sunday 27 August, held at McKane Park in Dunfermline.
In the second semi-final, the Glens came up against Falkland who play three levels higher in the Eastern Premier League - with the difference in quality and depth showing on the day.
Glenrothes lost the toss and were asked to bat first, with most batters struggling to get on top of the game. Young Karthik Coppisetty was to show some resistance with a four and a six and keeper Paul Culleton was to dig in also, but with eight batters dismissed to catches it showed that timing of the ball wasn't there. Glenrothes bowled out for 76 in the last (20th over).
A below par score, but T20s can be great levellers if the bowling and fielding wins some of their one-ball battles. But the opening over was to set the tone as overseas player Martins was to hit a brutal 26 runs. He was to be dismissed in the soon after to a contentious catch as Bimal Nalupurakkal Balan was to celebrate a bit to early and the ball dropped to the ground but the umpire deemed it legitimate - respect the umpires decisions at all times! But Jennings (28* from 16 balls) kept the impetus up and helped his team to the winning score in the sixth over.
It was really good to see such a team from a much higher level on how they approached the game and kept the intensity up throughout the whole day for every ball.
The match live stream is available to watch back at your (dis)pleasure and there is also some great photos from David Potter you can view also.
