The 1st XI hosted Falkland 2nd XI at Gilvenbank Park in SPCU Division 1 on Saturday, coming out comfortable winners by nine wickets.
Falkland won the toss and chose to bat first, but an early mix-up between young Charlie Burton and Arul Senthil saw Burton run out.
After the early breakthrough, Falkland looked to consolidate but wickets continued to fall at regular intervals, with a couple of wickets each to Bimal Nalulpurakkal Balan and Sufyan Ahmed and a further wicket to young Anas Tanveer to dismiss the dangerous looking Senthil for 36.
It was left to Glens skipper Qasim Ahmad to again clean up the tail and finish with excellent figures of 4 for 33 in just under 9 overs. Falkland bowled out for 136 in the 36th over, though 40 extras with 36 wides provided by Glens is something they need to work on.
Glens mad a strong start in the second innings, with James Slingsby (25) continuing his good form.
But it was to be fellow opener Govind Singh (69*) and number three Nigam Panwar (33*) to see the Glens to victory with no further loss in the 23rd over.
Overall, a good game from which both teams will have taken a number of positives as well as a few learning points, with valuable batting and bowling time in the middle as the season starts to shape up.
