Glenrothes Cricket Club 1st XI travelled across the Tay to play Rossie Priory in the Strathmore and Perthshire Cricket Union (SPCU) Division 1 on Saturday.
Rossie Priory have more often than not proven to be a bogey team for the Glens, racking up big scores and then putting pressure back on in the second innings to squeeze Glenrothes out.
Glens skipper Qasim Ahmed would have been grateful to have finally won a toss against them, choosing to bat first and hope to reverse that trend.
Govind Singh and Sufyan Ahmed (67) justified that choice with a fast start, putting on a century opening stand in just 13 overs.
Bruce Stephens of Rossie Priory bowled well to keep his team in the game, taking five wickets.
But Nigam Panwar for the Glens was to push back even harder, hitting a fantastic 119 not out with support from Adeel Ali (56) at the end to help Glens post a formidable 341 for six wickets from their 45 overs.
Skipper Qasim Ahmed was to make an early breakthrough in the second innings, dismissing the dangerous Bruce Stephens.
Tzon Stafylarakis (44) was to bat well and whilst supported by a number of batters making starts, no one else was able to push on give the substantial scores needed.
Glenrothes continued to take wickets at regular intervals, with Nigam Panwar showing no tiredness from his century to take two wickets, before youngsters Anas Tanverr (three for 15) and Aayan Sakhir (two for four) closed out the innings to see Rossie Priory bowled out for 156.
Well done everyone, particularly Nigam!
