Glenrothes welcomed Largo to Gilvenbank Park on Tuesday for the final round-robin fixture in the SPCU T20 Trophy.
Largo batted first, with their skipper Hughes Gillin opening the batting and putting on an absolute masterclass in constructing in a T20 innings.
That the Glenrothes bowling and, in particular, the fielding was below par did not help but Gillin (96*) with brutal hitting support from Ben Coates (44) simply owned the game, with Largo finishing on 193 for 4 from their 20 overs.
Young bowlers Ben Krzyzanowski (2 for 32 from 4) and Muhammad Tayyiub (1 for 15 from 2) showed their promise at least.
With James Slingsby being dismissed first ball in the second innings, Glens obviously felt the pressure build.
Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals, and at 67 for 7 in the 15th over it was left to Tayyiub (12*) and fellow youngster Anas Tanveer to try and bring some respectability to the score. Tanveer (18) was to be out last ball of the innings though as Glens finished on 98 for 8 from their 20 overs.
A demoralising victory, made worse by confirmation that their net run rate had taken such a significant hit that Freuchie were able to jump above them in the Group 4 table and claim the spot in the SPCU T20 Trophy Finals day. Good luck to Freuchie on the day, make Fife proud!
